Kerrville Radio Worker Murdered

A man described as a vagrant is accused of killing a Kerrville radio station morning host in what’s described as a random act of violence.

“He has no known affiliation with anyone in this area or at the radio station,’ said Kerr County Sheriff Rusty Hierholzer.

He says 52-year-old Sherry Ruth Francis was killed outside the Ranch Radio Group facility shortly before 6 this morning.

“She was going to open the door to the radio station when she was attacked,” said Hierholzer.

Deputies arrested Gilbert Manriquez around 7 this morning.

“He was hitchhiking or walking along Fredericksburg Highway north of the radio station. He does have a history of assault and he did confess to the murder,” Hierholzer told KTSA News.

Investigators believe Manriquez was on drugs when he killed Francis. She had worked at the radio station for about a month.
