Life sentence in prison for man convicted in death of 5-year-old child
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — There were a number of possible sentences for a man found guilty of beating his girlfriend’s 5-year-old son to death.
In the end, Daniel Garcia was sentenced to life in prison by 226th District Court Judge Velia Meza on Wednesday.
Garcia was convicted in May in connection to the death of Domenic Aguilar-Acevedo. It is believed the child died in a San Antonio hotel in 2021, but his body was found in a ravine in Colorado.
Dominic’s mother, Nickolle Aguilar, was sentenced last week for her role in his death. She got a 15-year-sentence after a plea built around her testimony against Garcia.
During Wednesday’s hearing, KSAT-12 reports Domenic’s father, David Engwiller, had to be removed from the courtroom after he lashed out at Garcia.
