Live Oak family of 6 escapes as fire causes extensive damage to their home

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A family in Live Oak woke up to the sound of smoke detectors Tuesday morning.

At around 12:20 A.M., firefighters were called to the 13700 block of Altairano. They were able to get the fire out quickly and kept it contained to the garage but had to deal with hotspots popping up in the walls.

The family of six and their four pets got out safely but the flames did more than $100,000 worth of damage to their home.

They’ll stay with relatives until they can find a new home.

Firefighters from Live Oak, Selma, Universal City, Schertz and Converse all helped in the effort.

The cause is still being investigated.
