Man accused of killing daughter, attacking ex-wife has trial date pushed back
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A San Antonio man accused of stabbing his daughters and shooting his ex-wife may not be going on trial until early next year.
KSAT-12 reports Stephen Clare had a pretrial hearing Thursday morning, and multiple factors are delaying the trial that had a tentative start date of October 11.
The state informed the judge that the gun used in the attack was being tested at the Bexar County Crime Lab, and a rush has been put on that since the defense will have to be given the findings before the next hearing.
Clare’s defense filed a motion for records from Child Protective Services, and the judge granted it.
Clare is accused of shooting Mariah Gardner and stabbing his two young daughters, Rosalie and Willow Gardner in April 2023. Two-year-old Rosalie recovered, but 11-month-old Willow died of her injuries.
If convicted, Clare could be sentenced to death.
