Man accused of shooting Converse boy in face with rifle captured

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A man accused of shooting a teenage boy in the face in Converse last week has been arrested.
Converse police say 21-year-old Rene Amaya turned himself in at the Bexar County jail.
Amaya is accused of shooting a 15-year-old boy last Monday in the face at a home on Gander Park near Converse City Park with a rifle.
The victim was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical condition and would later die.
Amaya was wanted in Converse on a manslaughter charge and by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office on an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge.
