Man arrested, accused of setting ex-girlfriend’s car on fire, making threats
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The Bexar County Fire Marshal’s Office (BCFMO) is announcing the arrest of a man accused of setting his ex-girlfriend’s car on fire.
Rasah Malik McIntyre, 29, was arrested and charged with arson and harassment after a car was found burning on the northeast side of unincorporated Bexar County on Saturday just before 2 a.m. BCFMO investigators would later find that the fire had been set on purpose, likely with a liquid accelerant.
The victim was found to be McIntyre’s ex-girlfriend, and she would tell investigators the suspect had been threatening her.
McIntyre was arrested Monday after two arrest warrants were issued, and he was taken into custody in the 4600 block of Rittiman Road. During the arrest, officers say they found a gun and an extended magazine containing 29 rounds of ammunition.
“Arson-related crimes routinely have a connection to violent crimes, whether it is family violence; gang activity, or narcotics distribution and organized criminal activity. This is a good example of catching an arsonist before his criminal conduct escalates and someone gets seriously hurt or killed,” Bexar County Fire Marshal Chris Lopez said.
McIntyre was booked into the Bexar County Jail and may face additional charges for firearm possession, as he was a fugitive from justice.
