Man arrested after crashing into patrol cars and stealing another in Atascosa County

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A long list of charges for a 47 year old man who started a demolition derby with police officers and performing a Harry Houdini impersonation.

FOX 29 reports the trouble began when Reynaldo Ruiz rear-ended a Poteet Police Officer’s vehicle Sunday, then drive off.

The officer followed Ruiz who rammed into the patrol vehicle a second time.

Two other officers showed up and placed Ruiz in handcuffs and sat him in the backseat of another patrol vehicle.

But Ruiz wasn’t done.

He slipped out of his handcuffs, got behind the wheel of the cruiser and took off.

The officers started chasing Ruiz who nearly ran over a police officer in Pleasanton. He circled back around, heading back to Poteet where he crashed with another patrol car.

He didn’t slip out of the second set of cuffs and was arrested on charges of aggravated assault on a peace officer with a deadly weapon and felony escape.

None of the officers were seriously hurt during the ordeal.

Ruiz reportedly told police he was binging on meth.
