Man arrested after crashing stolen newspaper delivery truck into buildings and cars

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A newspaper delivery driver will get to read about himself tomorrow morning. His delivery truck was stolen and the thief attempted a headline making getaway.

This happened just before 5 AM Thursday morning when 56 year old Roberto Hurtado was delivering papers at the 7-11 in the 7800 block of Fredericksburg.

Hurtado left the truck running and that’s when the thief, described as a young black male, got behind the wheel and took off.

San Antonio Police Officers located the stolen vehicle in a nearby hotel parking lot but when the man spotted the cops, he tried to get away again.

He struck a wall, the hotel and other vehicles as he tried to flee across Fredericksburg.

But he ended up back in the gas station parking lot in the heavily damaged pickup so he decided running would be a great idea.

It wasn’t.

The cops found him and took him into custody. Nobody was injured but the thief is facing several charges.
