Story has been updated to include the names of those involved and charges against the shooter

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — What started as a fight at a northwest side bar, quickly escalated into a high speed chase and shots fired at police officers.

The incident began at Whiskey’s, a bar on Callaghan where 25 year old Daniel Valdez and 27 year old Amanda Pineda were arguing in the parking lot. Valdez punched Pineda in her face while police were on their way and when they arrived, he had a gun pointed at the woman’s head.

But Valdez turned the gun on the officers instead and after firing at them he jumped into a car and sped off.

Valdez fired more rounds as officers chased him to the northeast side of the city then back again.

He was finally stopped when spike strips were rolled out at 410 and Evers. The man tried to run away but he was hit with a taser at Pat Neff Middle School.

He’s facing several charges of evading arrest and aggravated assault.
