Man charged with shooting neighbor, 7-year-old girl during party

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — San Antonio police have arrested a man accused of shooting two people, including a 7-year-old girl over the weekend.

The shooting happened early Sunday morning when an altercation broke out at a home on Bratton Drive.

Several people were there to watch a boxing match on TV but at around 1 a.m., a man and a woman started arguing.

The woman asked 24-year-old John Alderete to help her, so he grabbed his gun and shot at the man.

The bullet first struck the man in the arm, then hit the 7-year-old in the chest.

They were both brought to a hospital and the girl is reported to be in critical condition. The man was treated for his wound.

Alderete has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
