Man charged after driving van through voter registration tent

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A man in Florida is in trouble for driving his van though a tent where Republican volunteers were registering voters.

This happened in Jacksonville on Saturday.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says 27 year old Gregory William Loel Timm has been charged with aggravated assault, criminal mischief and driving with a suspended license.

Witnesses say Timm waved at the volunteers before accelerating and driving his vehicle through the tent. Nobody was hurt.

Bystanders tell police that after Timm plowed into the tent he recorded the chaos on his cellphone, gave the volunteers the finger then sped off.

He was arrested at his home just a few hours later.

Several Republican lawmakers and the Duval County Democratic Party condemned Timm’s actions.

Police say they are investigating whether or not the incident is politically motivated.
