Man found unconscious along road in Schertz fights with cops who were checking on him

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A man found unconscious on the side of a road in Schertz has been thrown in jail after throwing punches and kicks at police.

According to KSAT-12, officers got a call at around 1:45 A.M. Sunday about a person lying along FM 78 near River Road.

They responded and found 23 year old Matthew Long. But when they attempted to check on him, Long woke up…angry.

Police say he started acting aggressively towards the officers. At one point he got on his feet and started walking away. The officers tried to stop him in order to keep Long from endangering himself.

That’s when he started swinging his fist and kicking at the officers.

He punched one of the officers in the face while another suffered a broken hand.

They eventually got him under control and brought Long to the Guadalupe County Jail.

He’s been charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest.
