Man sentenced for murder, additional shooting sentenced after guilty pleas
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A man convicted of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon now has multiple prison sentences.
Dontre La Ron Nestle will serve 37 years on a charge of murder, and he will also serve 20 years for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The two sentences will be served concurrently.
Nestle pled guilty to shooting a man in the head outside of a North Side gym in July 2021. The victim was identified as Orlando Stuart, 24. Police say another person was also shot before being rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
An arrest warrant for Nestle was issued in September 2021, but he managed to evade arrest for some time.
Close to a year-and-a-half later, shots were fired during a basketball game on the far North Side off Highway 281. Investigators say Nestle had been fighting with other players before he fired a rifle into the air and toward the group, hitting a teenager in the arm.
Nestle was arrested in February 2023 and charged with both crimes.
Both sentences were handed down on Tuesday.
