Man shot and killed during robbery attempt on the Northwest Side
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The San Antonio Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting during an attempted robbery at a restaurant on the Northwest Side.
Investigators say it happened at around 1 a.m. Sunday at the Twin Peaks location on the I-10 access road near De Zavala.
Michael Vargas, 32, was having dinner with a woman and when they went outside to get into his car, they noticed several people trying to break into his vehicle.
Vargas confronted the group, and at one point someone pulled a gun and started shooting.
Vargas, who was shot in the chest, died at the scene. The woman who was with him was grazed by the bullet and was treated for a non-life threatening injury.
The shooter and the group they were with reportedly took off in a dark colored vehicle. No further description is available.
