Man who shot at San Antonio shopping center dies

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A man who was shot while driving at the Rim shopping center, has died.

26 year old Savawn Kyle was driving through the restaurant district of the northwest side shopping center at around 11:45 Sunday morning. Police say that’s when another vehicle occupied by 2 or 3 people came along and one of the occupants opened fire.

Kyle was hit but his 8 year old son who was in the car with him, was not.

The vehicle occupied by the shooter sped off while Kyle’s car continued for a short distance, coming to a stop after hitting a valet tent, a parked vehicle and a curb.

Kyle was transported to the hospital but he died of his injuries Monday morning. Nobody else was injured in the shooting and police are continuing their investigation.

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Gunshots at a busy San Antonio shopping center Sunday morning.

It happened at The Rim on the northwest side when someone in a dark sedan rolled up, and opened fire on a white Porsche that was being driven by a 26 year old man. In the vehicle with him, his 8 year old son.

The Porsche came to a stop when it crashed into another car.

The child wasn’t hurt but the driver was brought to the hospital in critical condition.

Witnesses tell police the gunman sped off, heading toward 10 West.

Officers say this was no random act, the man driving the Porsche was the shooter’s intended target.

Management at The Rim released a statement after the shooting that reads:

“We are working closely with SAPD as they investigate what appears to be an isolated shooting incident between two individuals that randomly ended in our parking lot. We value the safety of our patrons and are proud of our exemplary safety record. The RIM security force is in regular coordination with local law enforcement year-round, and even more so now, during the busy holiday shopping season.”

Nobody else was injured in the shooting.
