Man shot by thieves stealing catalytic converters from cars parked at a San Antonio apartment complex

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Thieves have shot a man who caught them in the act of stealing catalytic converters at an apartment complex on the East side.

It happened just after midnight Tuesday in the 200 block of Enoch Walk.

KSAT -12 is reporting that the victim heard some noise so he went outside to investigate.

That’s when he was shot by one of the thieves.  The man was hit two times in the upper body and is in critical condition.

Catalytic converters are popular with thieves due to the amount of platinum, palladium or rhodium in the devices. They are often sold to scrap yards for hundred of dollars.

Police are still looking for the thieves.
