SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The San Antonio Police Department is heading up an investigation after a man was shot and killed by law enforcement Tuesday morning.

But in this case, the shot was not fired by one of its own.

KENS 5 reports agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tabacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) were serving a so-called ‘knock and announce’ federal arrest warrant around 6 a.m. Shortly after, agents say the man in question pointed a gun at the agents. At that point, one agent fired a shot, killing the man.

The shooting happened at the Merida Apartments off Northeast Loop 410 near Starcrest Drive.

There were no details given on the nature of the arrest warrant and the man’s name has yet to be released.

This is a developing story and KTSA News will give more details when possible.
