Man Wanted in Judge’s Shooting Captured

A man wanted in the shooting of a Judge in her driveway of her Austin home is behind bars in New Orleans.

26-year old Marcellus Burgin was taken in to custody shortly before Midnight without incident.

Burgin, Chimene Onyeri, and Rasul Scott have all been indicted on federal charges stemming from the shooting Judge Julie Kocurek last November.

Prosecutors say the three came up with the scheme to kill the Judge when they felt a racketeering enterprise they had been involved with was being threatened. Onyeri had believed Kocurek was gong to sentence him to prison in a case she was presiding over.
