Man who left package marked “boom” at health facility is in custody

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – A man accused of leaving a package marked with the word “boom” at a health facility near the Medical Center has been taken into custody.
Police were called to the Texas Adolescent Treatment Center on Huebner Road near Eckhert Road around 4:30 this morning when the man tried to deliver the suspicious package.
The man was told to leave, and as he walked away he uttered something about “a detonator” and left the package outside one of the entrances.
San Antonio firefighters, including a hazmat unit were called to the facility.
The package was checked out by the San Antonio Police Department’s bomb squad. Investigators say it contained a battery pack with wires, clear tubing and a key ring.
The suspect reportedly stated that he had bombs and guns in his car, so a K-9 unit helped search the vehicle. Officers say they found a small amount of methamphetamine, but no other suspicious items.
