Man who put Trump hat on Selena statue faces legal action in connection with political rally

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) -A man organizing a Trump rally at the Selena statue in Corpus Christi has received a cease and desist letter from lawyers representing the father of the late Tejano singer.

Joe Michael Perez took a photo which shows him wearing a Trump T-shirt and placing a red Trump hat that reads “Keep America Great” hat on the Selena statue.   Perez has used the photo on social media to promote a rally this Saturday at the Selena Memorial as part of  the Trump Pop Up Texas tour which sparked outrage from Tejano legend’s father, Abraham Quintanilla.  Perez has also used the slogan “Bidi Bidi Trump Trump” to promote the upcoming event.

Perez announced Wednesday that he’s running for mayor of Corpus Christi.  His slogan will be “Let’s get it done.”
Selena was a Mexican-American  singer, songwriter, model and fashion designer who was called the Queen of Tejano Music.  She was gunned down by the president of her fan club in 1995 in Corpus Christi.   Yolanda Saldívar was convicted of murder and will be eligible for parole in 2025.  The movie “Selena” launched the acting career of Jennifer Lopez, who played the starring role.
