Marijuana possession charge against Schertz teen dropped due to improper search

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A pending charge against a teenager from Schertz who was seen on video getting tased as he tried to run from police has been dropped due to improper search.

18 year old Zekee Rayford says he was on his way home from night school when the incident took place on November 2nd.

Police say Rayford ran a red light and when they tried to stop him, he kept going.

When he got to his house he ran to the front door but the officers managed to stop him before he went inside.

In surveillance video released by the family, Rayford can be heard screaming for his father while police tased him and used physical force to subdue him.

Rayford was charged with evading police, resisting arrest and possession of marijuana.

Lawyers say that pot charge has been dropped because the officers didn’t have consent to search Rayford’s car.

The other charges are still pending.
