Maverick County Sheriff’s Office: 26 immigrants found locked in tanker at Eagle Pass gas station

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — More than two dozen illegal immigrants are now in the hands of U.S. Border Patrol after they were found in the back of an 18-wheeler in Eagle Pass.

The Maverick County Sheriff’s Office reports a deputy was patrolling a Pilot gas station at around 12:45 a.m. on Wednesday  when she heard people screaming.

More deputies showed up and they began searching some trucks parked at the gas station. They eventually found several people locked inside a tank attached to one of the trucks.

Medical personnel was called in to help remove 26 immigrants from the tank.

The truck had been abandoned in the parking lot and there has been no information released on whether or not the driver has been located.
