Mayor Leading Delegation to Spain

Mayor Ivy Taylor is headed overseas Saturday.

She’s off to Spain on a business-trade trip with the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

“We’ll be focused on the cultural aspects as well as business,” Taylor told KTSA News. “You know we have sister-cities in Spain and we haven’t had a mayor to go over to those sister-cities there since Lila Cockrell.”

That was about 40 years ago. The Mayor says this trip is good for cultural ties with those cities.

“The Canary Islanders were some of the founders of our city here,” she said. “With our tricentennial coming up, we certainly want to cultivate those relationships.”

The group will also look at what kind of trade options are available.

“I certainly believe there’s opportunity for more expansion here,” she said.
