Mayoral Candidates Square Off on KTSA

The three Candidates for Mayor of san Antonio got together for a Town Hall Forum on Tuesday.

They answered several questions from KTSA listeners about how to handle the problems the city is facing now and some that could come up in the future.

One issue they were asked about is the increasing crime rate.

City Councilman Ron Nirenberg talked about the need for more neighborhood crime watches, community policing and more Police Officers on the street.

Mayor Ivy Taylor’s response was to offer more economic opportunities in order to keep disadvantaged residents away from a life of crime.

Manuel Medina says a lot of the issue is with the 9-1-1 system. He says 1 out of every 5 calls goes unanswered and criminals know that.

You can hear the Candidates Forum when we replay it for you Friday night at 7 on 550 KTSA and FM 107.1.
