SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Meals on Wheels San Antonio needs to double the number of home delivery volunteers to keep up with the growing number of people in need.

Meals on Wheels has been delivering chilled meals to clients’ homes twice a week since the pandemic during the pandemic in an effort to continue providing a critical service to an increased number of homebound and at-risk individuals in San Antonio.

The organization would like to return to delivering hot and ready-to-eat meals Monday through Friday, but needs to more than double the number of drivers currently volunteering before they can do so.

The organization said the meal recipient list has risen from 3,000 per day to 5,000 since the pandemic began.

Individuals and corporate/organization delivery teams are both eligible to volunteer.
