Medina County jail inmate found dead in his cell

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The Texas Rangers are investigating the death of a Medina County Jail inmate.

54 year old David Lee Tumey had been in custody for a few days when he was found dead in his cell.

Sheriff Randy Brown says Tumey was by himself and there is no sign of foul play or suicide.

He was being held on charges of injury to a child/elderly person and possession of marijuana.

The investigation by the Texas Rangers is a standard procedure when an inmate dies.

It’s not known if he had any underlying health conditions but an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of Tumey’s death.
