Medina Independent School District temporarily closing schools

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — An area school district is closing down until after Labor Day.

The Medina Independent School District sent a letter to parents stating their intentions to temporarily close school while they deal with the recent COVID outbreak.

The letter from Superintendent Kevin Newsom reads:

“Unfortunately we have lost several key members of our leadership teams including several professional staff and key members of our healthcare.”

He says they can no longer operate in a safe and beneficial manner so after Friday, August 27, schools are closed.

Newsom says they will reassess the health status of staff and students September 3.

Remote learning is not being offered and the plan is to reopen Tuesday September 7.
