Meetings Set to Discuss Planned 410 Improvements

Do you find yourself spending more and more time sitting in traffic on Loop 410?

The Texas Department of Transportation has some plans to ease some of that trip on the West and Southwest sides–now, the planners want to hear from you.

“Upgrading ramps and direct connectors at both I-410 to U.S. 90 and I-410 to I-35. We’re making improvements there. Construction additional travel lanes, and widening the existing travel lanes” TXDOT’s Laura Lopez told KTSA News, describing parts of the planned improvements that would cover 14-miles of 410. Other improvements would include the construction of new bridges, as well as new bike and pedestrian lanes.

At this point, everything is on paper.

“Construction could start as early as in 2020–but, at this time there’s no funding for any projects… but this is an opportunity for our folks to get feedback from the public of what they would like to see out there” Lopez said.

A series of open house meetings has been scheduled for this week. You’ll find one Wednesday in the cafeteria at McAuliffe Middle School. Another takes place Thursday at the Northside Activity Center. Both begin at 5 PM, and will continue until 7.

“The public can come anytime during that time and speak to our staff there” Lopez said.
