Menendez to File Medical Marijuana Bill

State Senator Jose Menendez is ready to again make his pitch for allowing medical marijuana in Texas.

The Senator is set to formally announce he’ll file a bill allowing just that at a news conference at the State Capitol Tuesday Morning.

“Doctors, not politicians, should be determining what is best for Texas patients” Menendez said in a statement, adding “This is legitimate medicine that can help a variety of people, from a grandmother suffering from cancer to a veteran coping with PTSD after returning home from war.”

The bill would allow patients with debilitating and chronic medical conditions to receive cannabis under the recommendation of and in consultation with their doctor.

This is the second consecutive Legislative Session for which Menendez will file a medical marijuana bill. He will be joined at the Capitol by a number of patients who said they would benefit from such a measure.
