Missing San Antonio woman’s boyfriend arrested as he waited to board a bus headed to Mexico

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A man suspected of having something to do with his girlfriend’s disappearance is under arrest.

Francisco Garcia Ventura was arrested by San Antonio Police Sunday as he was preparing to get on a bus bound for Mexico City.

Police haven’t released the woman’s identity but her family contacted police after Garcia Ventura reportedly told them he had beaten the woman to the point that she stopped breathing. The family claims he told them he brought the woman’s body to San Marcos.

Investigators got a search warrant for his apartment and found evidence of a cleanup of human blood and that a security camera had been removed from a wall.

They did manage to find some surveillance footage showing Garcia Ventura leaving his apartment around the time his girlfriend disappeared. The video showed him carrying a large trash bag when he left.

He faces a charge of tampering with evidence and hasn’t been cooperating with investigators. His bond has been set at $200,000.

Garcia Ventura’s girlfriend is a mother of two who hasn’t been seen since Friday.
