More potentially severe weather to sweep through Texas
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Heavy rainfall and isolated strong to severe storms are expected to move through the San Antonio region Thursday afternoon and evening.
The National Weather Service expects an area from San Antonio and Kerrville to the Interstate 35 corridor to and north of Austin to get about 2 inches of rain from the storms.
The Rio Grande Valley is expecting to see a 1/2 inch or less. Wind gusts could reach 60 miles per hour and the storms could bring up to quarter-sized hail.
Forecasters say the chance of these storms becoming severe is marginal, but the bigger threat from these storms is flooding in some locations.
The San Antonio area will see the bulk of the storm during the Thursday afternoon rush hour, between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. The Hill Country will see storms a few hours earlier than San Antonio, New Braunfels, San Marcos and Austin. Areas to the east of Interstate 35 will see most of the rain after 8 p.m.
