More road work starting soon on Interstate 10 East/Loop 410 interchange
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — More work to improve Interstate 10 and Loop 410 near Kirby continues with new connector flyover ramps starting construction next week.
TxDOT said this part of the much larger series of projects will build direct connector ramps between from westbound Interstate 10 to southbound Loop 410 and northbound Loop 410 to eastbound Interstate 10.
This project will also repave portions of northbound Loop 410 north of Interstate 10, as well as other work on lighting, the frontage roads, and drainage.
TxDOT has been making a series of improvement to Interstate 10 near Kirby and Converse that have included converting frontage roads to one-way frontage roads and widening the expressway.
The first project improving safety and mobility on Interstate 10 between Foster Road and Graytown Road was finished last fall.
The second project widening Interstate 10 from Loop 410 to Loop 1604 is expected to be finished this summer.
The third and fourth projects to widen Interstate 10 from Loop 1604 to Pfeil Road and from Graytown Road to the Bexar/Guadalupe county line are expected to be finished by 2024.
This latest construction project is set to start Monday and be completed by 2024.
Eventually, TxDOT will be reconstructing the Interstate 10/Loop 410 into a stack interchange, redesigning the Interstate 35/Loop 410/FM 78 interchange, and building a partial stack interchange at Interstate 10 and Loop 1604.
