NB Remembers Floods

Memorial day weekend of 2015 was a tough one for the region. Record rainfall fell in many communities especially Wimberly and San Marcos, where they experienced flooding so severe, they are still recovering.

However, one nearby city that is prone to floods escaped disaster, thanks to the areas natural landscape.

New Braunfels Mayor Baron Casteel says most of the rain fell to the north of his city especially around Canyon Lake. he says the lake captured the water which prevented it from find it’s way into his city. He says if that didn’t happen, New Braunfels would have been impacted much like Wimberly and San Marcos.

Casteel tells us that because they managed to avoid a direct hit, they were able to send their resources to areas impacted by floods.
