NBPD: Additional suspect arrested for murder, charges for others upgraded

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The New Braunfels Police Department is announcing another arrest in connection to the shooting death of a man in the parking lot of an Applebee’s on October 1, 2024.

Investigators say Chance Herron, 19, was shot while inside of a car. A woman was also in the car, and both people were shot. Herron was rushed to the hospital, where he later died. The woman was also hurt, but she eventually recovered.

With a fourth suspect under arrest, NBPD is updating all suspects now in custody.

  • 20-year old Justin Xavier Sherard of New Braunfels was arrested on October 10th in New Braunfels by the NBPD Street Crimes Unit. Sherard is charged with Murder and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. He is currently in custody at the Comal County Jail with bond set at $600,000.
  • 20-year old Jacob Rowser of Converse was arrested on October 8th in Alabama by members of the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force. Rowser is charged with Murder and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. He was transferred from Alabama to the Comal County Jail on October 18th. Bond was set at a combined $575,000 and he was released from custody on October 22nd.
  • 20-year old Richard Rosas of Converse was arrested on October 18th after he turned himself in to the Comal County Jail where he is charged with Murder. He remains in custody with bond set at $500,000.
  • 20-year old Marcus Gonzales of San Antonio was arrested November 8th and was booked at the Comal County Jail for Murder. He currently remains in custody with bond set at $500,000.

The case remains an ongoing investigation. Once finalized, the case will be forwarded to the Comal County District Attorney’s Office for prosecutorial review and consideration.
