CONVERSE, Tex. (KTSA News) — A major crash shut down a New Braunfels road for several hours late Thursday afternoon.

New Braunfels police said a 1994 Honda Accord had struck a 2018 Jeep Wrangler head-on in the 1200 block of North Walnut Avenue at around 6:30 p.m.

Police say the driver of the Wrangler — a 47-year-old woman from Spring Branch — suffered non-life-threatening injuries and had been taken to an area hospital for treatment.  The other driver — a 34-year-old man from New Braunfels — was critically injured in the crash and was taken to a Hays County hospital for treatment.

Police say the investigation so far suggests the driver of the Honda had crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and caused the crash.  They are still working to see if any charges will be filed from the crash.

The stretch of Walnut Avenue between Grandview Avenue and Woodland Avenue were closed for three hours while police investigated.
