New Braunfels man arrested in manufactured home arson

BEXAR COUNTY, Tex. (KTSA News) — A New Braunfels man was arrested Monday for setting a manufactured home on fire earlier this month.

The New Braunfels Fire Department said the fire happened at around 1:50 p.m. on August 2nd on Granite Run — which is off of Interstate 35 about a mile south of FM 306.

When fire crews arrived to the scene that afternoon, the three bedroom manufactured house was on fire.  It was later determined to have been vacant at the time of the fire, with damages estimated at around $70,000.

The New Braunfels Fire Marshal’s Office determined it had been intentionally set and got an arrest warrant for 34-year-old Christopher Evans on a 2nd degree felony arson charge.

Evans was arrested Monday at around noon.  Investigators found him at his friends house on Morales Court and was arrested without issue.

The investigation continues.
