New Braunfels PD: 2 found dead in home in suspected murder/suicide

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The New Braunfels Police Department is investigating after a man and a woman were found dead in a home.

Officers were called to the 900 block of Pumpkin Ridge around 5 p.m. to perform a welfare check after family members had been unable to reach either of the people for several days. Upon entering the home, police say both were found dead in a bedroom. Investigators say each had suffered a fatal gunshot wound.

Police say the victims were identified as Abigail Garza, 32, of Robbstown and Matthew Burrer, 45, of New Braunfels. Detectives believe Garza shot and killed Burrer before shooting herself.

NBPD says Garza had made previous threats to hurt herself and her boyfriend.

This is the first homicide in New Braunfels in 2024.

This is a developing story and KTSA News will give more details when they are available.
