New Braunfels Public Library to reduce overdue fines with school supply donation

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Have an overdue book from the New Braunfels Public Library?

During the month of July, you can get the fine reduced by donating school supplies to the library’s “Pack The Bus” campaign.

Overdue fines will be cut back by 2 bucks for every item you bring in.

Binders, notebooks, backpacks and construction paper are among the supplies in high demand.

Just bring the supplies…and your overdue book to the Library at 700 East Common Street, the Westside Community Center, located at 2932 S. IH-35 Frontage Rd. or to the RIOmobile at any of its stops around New Braunfels.

“Our ‘Pack the Bus’ collection has the added benefit of providing library patrons a way to restore their
membership by decreasing their fines for overdue items with these school supply donations while still helping those students most in need in our community,” said Library Director Gretchen Pruett. “We don’t want overdue fines to keep children and families from using the library, particularly during the summer months, so we’re glad to contribute to Communities in Schools’ efforts.”

School supply donations may only be used to reduce overdue fines and are not applicable toward charges
related to lost or missing items.

You can also donate even if you don’t have overdue fines. The donated supplies will go to students in need in Guadalupe and Comal counties.
