New Warning About E-Cigarettes

Is there a hidden danger lurking in your pocket?

Doctors say it’s entirely possible, pointing to a growing number of reports involving explosions of e-cigarettes.

“We have seen a few cases here at University” said University Hospital’s Dr. Lilian Liao.

“When these items explode, they can cause burns. These burns can be anywhere from minor burns to serious urns resulting in skin grafting” Liao told KTSA News.

She said, the danger lies in what else might be in your pocket.

“If you choose to use one of these e-cigarette devices, be sure to put it in an area that’s not in contact with other metals. The theory of the explosion of is when they come in to contact with other metals” Liao said.
