SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Fiesta 2022 may be two months away, but collectors are already getting a peek at this year’s medals.

A Night in Old San Antonio revealed the 2022 Fiesta Medal on Monday and it has a call to action on display.

“On this medal, it says ‘Viva la Vida” and that means to celebrate life,” NIOSA Chairman Jana Foreman said. “Because of the pandemic and how bad it’s been the last couple of years, I wanted to encourage everybody to celebrate.”

Unlike last year, NIOSA 2022 will not limit ticket sales, Foreman said. Guests will not be required to wear masks, but those who feel more comfortable are encouraged to wear one. Guests will not be asked about or to prove vaccination status.

The four-night event in the historic La Villita downtown arts village will take place April 5 to 8 with 14 cultural areas featuring entertainment, food, drinks and cultural atmosphere booths, the organization said.

The 2022 NIOSA Fiesta Medal are available to purchase for $13 online or at the NIOSA Office located at 227 S. Presa.

Proceeds from NIOSA go to the Conservation Society of San Antonio’s projects that include preserving historic buildings, places, objects and customs relating to Texas history.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow at niosa.org.
