Nitty Gritty Dirt Band brings farewell tour to San Antonio’s Tobin Center in March
SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band is coming off the road after nearly 60 years.
The group, which has scored hits on the both the pop and country charts since the 1960’s is currently on their farewell tour, which includes a stop in San Antonio.
The group formed in 1966 as a Long Beach, California jug band and are best known for the songs “Mr. Bojangles”, “An American Dream” and “Fishin’ In The Dark”.
They recorded a groundbreaking album called “Will The Circle Be Unbroken” with dozens of country and bluegrass legends in 1972.
The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, featuring founding members Jeff Hanna and Jimmie Fadden, longtime bandmate Bob Carpenter, along with Jim Photoglo, Jaime Hanna and Ross Holmes, will perform at the Tobin Center March 26 at 7:30 p.m.
