Normandy Mosque Stands UP

They made a martyr of 84-year-old Fr. Jaques Hamel.

But they will not be martyrs of their own faith. So say local Muslims in the Normandy village where the ISIS atrocity of July 26. They are refusing to prepare the bodies for Islamic traditional burial rites.


“Mohammed Karabila, imam of one of the town mosques, told Le Parisien newspaper, ‘We’re not going to taint Islam with this person.

‘We won’t participate in preparing the body or the burial'”

It’s a small step. Maybe someone else will step in and do it, or cave. But one thing is clear.

Someone, somewhere, is taking a stand. In Islam. For humanity.

We’ve been asking for that stand. However small, it should be acknowledged, gratefully.
