North East ISD Updates Sex Ed Curriculum

The North East Independent School District has approved an updated sex education curriculum–one the District said isn’t too different from what it had already been teaching.

“We have had a very similar middle school curriculum for more than twenty years… this is nothing new” North East ISD’s Aubrey Chancellor told KTSA News.

However, the San Antonio Family Association isn’t happy with it all.

“We do not want condoms being taught to our seventh and eighth graders… like they’re suggesting here” the Association’s Mike Knuffke told KTSA News.

But Chancellor insisted the District isn’t even teaching that part.

“This curriculum has one lesson that is optional… it is a demonstration of how to put on a condom. The North East School District was never planning on doing this lesson” Chancellor said.
