SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — Nearly 5,000 notifications have been sent out to current and former employees of the Northeast Independent School District letting them know that their personal information may have been compromised by hackers.

A district employee in the payroll department had their email hacked in late August.

The cyber criminal wanted to redirect where money was being sent but security systems picked up on attempt.

The good news is that the hacker was shut down before any money was sent to the wrong bank.

The bad news…some employee information may have been hacked as well.

The district doesn’t know for sure if the hacker got away with any of the personal information but they sent the emails as a precaution.
