Notorious bar on San Antonio’s East side demolished

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — It was a hotspot for trouble and many residents who lived near a bar on the East side are happy that it’s gone.

Twin Sisters Cantina, a small bar that had been located at the corner of East Drexel and South Hackberry had been the site of several crimes in the past few years. Police responding to numerous complaints about noise, fights, drug use, patrons urinating in neighboring yards and the occasional shooting.

The bar was shut down back in January after it was found to be violating several safety codes.

A temporary restraining order was placed on the property by the city and it was determined that the building should be demolished.

There were some delays because sections of the building were “historical”.

Those claims couldn’t save the building from being bulldozed and the debris hauled away.

Crews showed up Thursday morning to begin the process.

The parcel of land will soon be put up for sale.
