Officer involved shooting in New Braunfels

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The Texas Rangers are investigating an officer involved shooting in New Braunfels.

The shooting took place Friday afternoon.

At around 11AM, New Braunfels Police were called to the 200 block of Clemens Avenue.

That’s where a 29 year old man had locked himself into a bathroom and refused to come out.

The NBPD Crisis Negotiations and SWAT Teams negotiated with the man for nearly 2 hours and nearby homes were evacuated.

But when officers noticed the smell of smoke coming from the bathroom, they made the decision to enter.

The man then pointed a gun at officers and they opened fire, striking him an unspecified number of times.

He was brought to San Antonio Military Medical Center where he is said to be in serious but stable condition.

No officers were hurt during the incident.
