One tree trimmer dead, two others injured after making contact with electrical line

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – One landscaper is dead, two others are hospitalized after one of them cut through a live electrical line in a Northwest Side neighborhood.

Joe Arrington with the San Antonio Fire Department says they were using a bucket truck to trim trees in the 100 block of Chesswood Drive this morning when the accident occurred.

“The landscapers came into contact with some electrical lines. Unfortunately, one of those individuals was killed,” Arrington told KTSA News.

Firefighters were unable to immediately get to the victims because of the live wires.

“CPS Energy went in to make sure that the electricity was out in the area before we could access them and bring the bucket down,” Arrington said.

One man was pronounced dead on the scene. Another landscaper was taken to a hospital with severe burns and the third landscaper suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
