SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The City of San Antonio is putting over $422,000 into completing the Commerce Street Gateway.

The extra funds are going into the installation of sidewalks along West Commerce Street, traffic signal upgrades, drainage and infrastructure upgrades as well as cyclist and pedestrian improvements.

There are also plans for dedicated bike lanes and a public art project under the bridge.

The project focuses on West Commerce Street between Frio Street and Colorado Street.

“This is a very exciting project for District 5 and we’re in the process of organizing stakeholder meetings,” said Councilwoman Shirley Gonzales in a statement. “It’s a transformational project that will open a corridor of development into the Westside.”
