Paralympic medals stolen from parked car have been recovered

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A burglary case that had the whole town talking is under investigation.

It was around 7 P.M. Saturday when a man broke into a car that was in a parking garage at The Rim shopping center. The thief broke through a window, reached inside and stole a backpack.

Inside the backpack, 3 Paralympic gold medals.

The car, which just happened to be a Tesla, is equipped with several cameras which captured the crime on video.

The owner posted the video on his Twitter account and it was eventually shared thousands of times.

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus was among those who re-tweeted the footage of the vehicle break-in.

At some point Sunday, the Chief was back on Twitter to say the backpack and the medals had been recovered and more information on the case would be released Monday.

There has been no indication that an arrest has been made.
