Part of I-35N closed after SUV flips and kills 2, injures 4

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The highway is closed while police investigate after an SUV lost control and flipped, killing two people and injuring four others.

SAPD spokesperson Jennifer Rodriguez said the SUV was observed by a patrolling officer to be driving erratically around 7:45 a.m. near I-35N and New Bruanfels Avenue.

The officer activated their lights to attempt the pull the car over, but the SUV sped away in between two cars “within seconds,” Rodriguez said.

Police said the SUV then attempted to get onto the highway but struck a metal barrier causing the vehicle to flip multiple times.

Two males were ejected from the vehicle and killed, four other men were injured and transported to a hospital. Two of the transported men were in critical condition and the two others in serious condition.

One male was detained and is being questioned. Police are trying to determine who was driving the vehicle.

Police have closed all lanes of I-35 N near Brooklyn Avenue while they continue their investigation and expect the roadway to be closed for some time.
